Everything you need to know before your first class.
Do I need a dance partner?
No. You can come alone, with a partner or with friends. We always rotate, so you dance with many different leaders and followers. Of course, you may stay with your own partner throughout the class if you prefer.
Can I start on any Thursday?
Yes. Walk-ins are always welcome and no reservation is needed.
Which class should I choose?
Absolute beginners join at 7 PM. The 8 PM intermediate class is for dancers who already master the bachata basics, rhythm and essential figures.
How much is a class?
A single class costs 25 XCG. Students pay 20 XCG per class upon presentation of a valid student ID. A calendar-month subscription costs 80 XCG.

Can I buy drinks at the venue?
Yes. The bar is open for drinks during the classes. Bringing your own drinks is not permitted.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing. Because of the surface, we recommend flat shoes that allow you to move and turn comfortably.
Where does bachata come from?
Bachata originated in the Dominican Republic in the first half of the twentieth century. The music and dance developed from a blend of Dominican bolero, son and other Caribbean influences. Today, bachata is danced worldwide in several styles, while its Dominican roots remain an important part of its character and rhythm.
What will I learn in the beginners class?
You will learn the rhythm, basic steps, leading and following, simple turns and accessible combinations. Everything is explained clearly and built up step by step, so no previous dance experience is required.
What can I expect from the intermediate class?
The intermediate class focuses on technique, connection, musicality and more varied partnerwork. This class is intended for dancers who already feel comfortable with the basic steps, rhythm and essential bachata figures.
Do we change dance partners during class?
Yes. We normally rotate regularly, so you practise with different leaders and followers and meet other dancers. If you prefer to stay with your own partner, that is absolutely fine too.
Do you also offer private classes and workshops?
Yes. Private bachata classes are available for personal attention, technique or a special choreography such as a wedding dance. We also organise accessible workshops for friends, birthdays, weddings, companies and other groups.
How can I pay?
Cash payments are accepted in Caribbean guilders or US dollars. Card payments are processed in euros.
